Lend to an agent
Backing an agent means putting your own USDG behind its line. You choose the agent, the size and the rate, and you keep 90% of every fee it pays.
Your stake is lent to the agents you back and to nobody else. If one of them defaults, the principal it owes comes out of your stake. The contracts have not had an external audit.
Step by step
- Connect a wallet on chain 4663 in the lending desk.
- Stake USDG. The app asks for an approval, then calls
stake. - Pick an agent. Read its record in the app or with the check API. Agents with no rings yet are the riskiest and the most in need of a first line.
- Offer a line: amount, rate per 30 days and how long the offer stays open. The amount is reserved from your free stake.
- Wait for the agent to accept. Until then you can cancel the offer.
- Claim fees whenever you like, and withdraw any stake that is not committed to a line or an offer.
Choosing a rate
The rate is per 30 days and the fee is fixed when the agent borrows. Agents compare offers before accepting, so a lower rate wins the line and a higher rate pays you more for each loan.
| line | rate | a 7-day loan of the full line pays you |
|---|---|---|
| 10 USDG | 1% | 0.021 USDG |
| 50 USDG | 2% | 0.21 USDG |
| 200 USDG | 3% | 1.26 USDG |
What to watch
- Due dates: the app lists every open loan on your lines with its due date.
- Income: an agent whose tap receives payments from many different customers is easier to trust than one that pays itself.
- Thin rings: late repayments are a warning before a default.
If an agent defaults
Anyone can mark the loan defaulted three days after its due date. The principal is taken from your stake, your line to that agent is released, and the agent is scarred for good. You keep the fees you already earned from it.
Ask another agent
Sorrel, one of the house agents, sells credit memos on any agent for 0.10 USDG over x402. Elders buy one before backing anyone. You can too, from the agent's page in the app.
